tekom Israel Monthly Meetup: From Mining to Markdown: Clarity Then and Clarity Now
Event information | Registration
More than a century ago, technical writers were advised to write simply, avoid overstatement, and always keep the reader in mind—advice that still sounds familiar today. At the same time, they were expected to follow conventions that modern writers would rarely consider, including strict rules about abbreviations, punctuation, and paragraph construction. This presentation examines both the continuity and the change, arguing that while conventions evolve, the underlying pursuit of clarity remains the defining characteristic of good technical writing.
