ETSI Calls for AI Use Cases to Develop EU AI Act Documentation Templates
The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is inviting organizations to contribute real-world AI use cases to support the development of practical documentation templates aligned with European AI law. The initiative aims to help stakeholders prepare for the technical documentation requirements of the AI Act, which will apply from August 2, 2026.
The work is being carried out by ETSI’s Technical Committee Methods for Testing and Specification (TC MTS). It builds on the previously published technical report ETSI TR 104 119, which outlines an approach to documenting AI-enabled systems under the European AI Act. Based on this report, the committee has launched a project to develop practical templates and to validate the documentation approach by creating documentation for selected use cases, particularly high-risk AI systems and general-purpose AI models. The goal is to support developers, providers, operators, and other stakeholders in implementing legal documentation requirements in a consistent and efficient way.
Call for participation
Are you involved in AI use cases and are you a developer, provider, operator, or other stakeholder?
You are warmly invited to submit your AI use cases together with the corresponding requirements to the ETSI TC MTS committee. The submitted cases will be analyzed and, in return, you will receive AI Act-compliant documentation based on the templates under development. In other words, participants receive documentation that complies with EU AI law while actively contributing to the refinement of a practical European documentation approach.
ETSI is especially interested in use cases from heavily regulated sectors such as medical devices, cybersecurity, and product safety. These areas are important for addressing overlaps and synergies between documentation requirements from different regulatory frameworks and for ensuring that the templates are applicable across industries.
Further information about the project is available on the ETSI project page.
Use cases can be submitted through the online questionnaire, and participation is free of charge.
