tekom Europe proudly presented the Ulf L. Andersson Award 2026 to Laura Katajisto during NORDIC TechKomm Copenhagen on September 23, 2026.

The award was presented by award committee member Boo Engstrand and tekom Europe executive board member Steen Magnussen.

About the Ulf L. Andersson Award

The Ulf L. Andersson Award honors tekom Europe members who make an outstanding voluntary contribution to the technical communication community. It recognizes engagement in areas such as knowledge sharing, professional development, and community building, particularly contributions made outside an official role, such as serving on a tekom board. The award was introduced in 2024 in honor of Ulf L. Andersson, one of the founders of the Swedish Society of Technical Communication.

About the 2026 Winner

Laura Katajisto was honored for her long-standing contribution to technical communication, as well as her commitment to sharing knowledge and supporting the wider technical communication community. With more than 20 years of experience in the field, Laura made contributions across technical writing, information architecture, documentation tooling, and process development. Her career has followed many important developments in technical communication, from the early adoption of XML and modular documentation to content management and delivery solutions and, more recently, the integration of AI into documentation workflows.

A particular strength of Laura’s work is her ability to connect people, practices, and technologies. She brings together perspectives from writers, developers, and managers, translating their different needs into practical guidance that helps teams work more consistently. Her approach is collaborative and strongly user-focused, considering not only the people who use documentation but also those who create it.

Laura also actively contributes to the development of the profession beyond her own work. She shares her expertise with the wider technical communication community, including students, and contributes to academic research in the field. Within the Finnish Technical Communication Society STVY, she supports professional development, visibility, and peer learning.

Her long-term dedication, broad experience, and willingness to share her knowledge make Laura Katajisto a deserving recipient of the 2026 Ulf L. Andersson Award.

The next call for nominations for the Ulf L. Andersson Award is planned to open at the end of October 2026. Further information, including the exact nomination period, will be finalized by the award committee soon, then published here as news and in the tekom Europe newsletter. 

The 2027 award will be presented during NORDIC TechKomm Stockholm on March 18–19, 2027.
