Final Draft of the Standard Now Available

IEC/IEEE 82079-1 is the most important standard for the creation of all types of information for use - from a can of paint to very complex products such as large industrial machinery. The second edition of the standard is presented in a much clearer form and also contains numerous important innovations. Since December 21, 2018, the final draft has been circulating for the very last international ballot.
IEC provides a preview showing the table of contents, foreword, introduction and scope of the revised version. The table of contents shows that the revision is much clearer and better structured than the previous version. In the introduction, the new concept of "Information for use" is explained in detail. Another important innovation of the revision is a large section on the "information management process".
The table of contents shows that this section covers all relevant steps in the development process - from target group analysis to quality assessment.

International voting on the Final Draft terminates on February 1, 2019. The publication of the finalized international standard is expected in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of the year.
IEC already offers the standard in a pre-release version, which will be available until the end of the international voting period on February 1, 2019 and includes the free subsequent delivery of the final version of the standard.
