End of year summary 2025

It's time for us to do the year-end review. We'll tell you about the membership development and give some highlights from our experiences this year.

Membership development

We saw a little change in the membership numbers this year and are now at 121 members. The decrease compared to last year is due to student members ending their memberships. Hopefully they'll come back again later, when they start their careers in technical communication. 😉

The good news is that we gained 17 new members from companies in 2025. We hope you get the value you hoped for out of the membership.

We're personally happy to see we continue to have a very strong community, where we help each other out, share experiences and knowledge and generally take an interest in what is happening in our field. Thanks a lot for supporting us on this journey. 🙏

A strengthened focus on in-person events

We followed up on the success of having in person events in 2025. This year, we had 3 well-visited events, 4 doc dinners and a great conference. In addition, we had an online webinar with input from the academic world. Something new that gave new insights for everyone.

First of all, we're extremely happy to see the support we received from you throughout the year. If you wouldn't participate and be members, there wouldn't be a tekom Danmark. So thank you very much - and please keep it up in 2025. 🥳🤩

Our top 3 successes this year:

1. tekom doc dinners for the win!
   Like last year, we see good attendance for our doc dinners. Especially in Aarhus, the format works really well. In 2025, we changed the setup a little bit and for Copenhagen found a place that we could have as our regular spot. We look forward to continue these efforts and our greeat conversations next year.
   
   You can already now sign up for the first dinner of 2026 - a European one happening in several countries at the same time. Sign up and join 28 January 2026.
    
2. Strengthened university collaboration
   We have initiated a collaboration with the University of Copenhagen to host a career event as the one we've done at Aarhus Univiersity for some years now. The aim is to show students about their opportunities of building a career in technical communication. The first event will take place in the Spring of 2026.
   
   Per again hosted an excellent event at Aarhus University in the fall. Here, we both talked about skills, trends, career building and the students had a chance to meet companies and ask questions. It was a huge success, and we believe the format is here to stay! 
    
3. An award winning community!
   We hosted another succesfull Nordic TechKomm conference this year, where +140 people participated in 2½ days of knowledge sharing, new learning, networking and trends and technology discussions. A big thank you to all speakers and participants, and especially the support from the head office and our sponsors. Without them, we wouldn't be able to create such a great conference.
   
   As something new, we were the hosts of the Ulf. L. Andersson Award ceremony. We were happy and honored to support the award, and especially to see another tekom Danmark member win it. Esben Keller received the award for among other things always being willing to share his skills and experience at tekom Danmark events and conferences and for supporting the universities in making technical communication known as a career opportunity in Denmark. 

   Maiken had the honour of giving the speech and handing over the award - such a nice experience and a great day at the conference in Copenhagen. 

It was proven again this year that the personal interactions are important and help us build a solid network in the industry. We see a big increase in tekom Danmark members, but also followers on our LinkedIn page and members of our LinkedIn group. 

We got a lot of great support from the head office in Stuttgart, and we want to send special thanks to our community manager Susanne Lohmüller and conference manager Stela Garic. Without their help, we wouldn't be able to offer such a great variety of events and an amazing conference for you and other technical communication professionals.

Development in tekom Danmark

2025 was a rewarding year in many ways. The collaboration with our Nordic friends gave us some fruitful discussions and knowledge sharing sessions. The Nordic collaboration is with tekom Sweden and STVY Finland, and we expect it will continue next year.

Again this year, we saw job changes happening for more members of the board, so some of the things we set out to do had to be paused. We do our work in tekom Danmark on a volunteer basis, and we were better at taking time to re-energize this year and take good care of each other.

A good thing is that we will soon have new energy entering the board. In November, we had elections for the positions, and we look forward to welcoming Synje Andersen as new Vice President and Jonas Steno Olsen as new Secretary. Per will stay on as treasurer and Holger will take over as President. Maiken and Steen will step out after years of service for which they were also honored at the tcworld conference in Stuttgart in November. Well done and thank you for all your efforts! We will miss you.

Our biggest success this year was building on the strong community that makes more people want to be a part of it. 

Our biggest challenge this year was again resources. We have high hopes and ambitions for tekom Danmark, and we hope we can find the energy to realize more of our great ideas in 2026. We meet in January to start the planning.

We want to thank you all for a great 2025. We're happy about the progress we made together, and we look forward to seeing you and your colleagues in 2026.
