IEC Technical Committee 3 has approved the New Work Item Proposal (NP) prepared by the iiRDS Consortium in collaboration with the Digital Data Chain Consortium (DDCC). In the next months, Working Group 28 will prepare a working draft for an international standard based on IEC PAS 63485:2023. This will include further details of iiRDS and integrate updated VDI 2770 requirements, as we are currently implementing the new iiRDS release for Q2/2025.

The Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA) recently published the "Intelligent Information for Use" submodel. It defines how information for use is integrated into Industry 4.0-compliant environments and serves as a metadata model for intelligent information, building on the IDTA "Handover Documentation" submodel, VDI 2770, and iiRDS. Its goal is to enable cross-manufacturer provision, exchange, and aggregation of information for use facilitating smart, format-independent linking and efficient use of technical documentation across machines, plants, and factories. The submodel was developed with the support of iiRDS Consortium members.
