FAQ for Attendees

This is a list of frequently asked questions by attendees.

What is the nature and benefit of a webinar?

A live webinar is a live seminar conducted online. Our webinars are designed to deliver the same high-quality content as our on-site events, with the convenience of a webinar format. This format allows participants in different locations to hear the presenter and interact by asking questions, answering polls and voting. All our webinars are 1 hour, including an introduction, the expert presentation and a Q&A session.

What are the costs for attending a webinar?

We offer different kinds of webinars. All webinars are free for members of tekom/tekom Europe. There is a charge for certain webinars for non-members.

How can I register for a FREE webinar?

You find for all our webinars that are marked as FREE a registration link together with the announcement. You will then be forwarded to the Go2Webinar registration page, where you have to enter your name and email.

How can I register for a webinar as a member?

Each webinar is announced on our website. The announcement includes a link for registration. You need to be logged in or log in to access the link if it is a paid webinar. You will then be forwarded to the Go2Webinar registration page, where you have to enter your name, email and membership ID.

How can I register for a paid webinar as a non-member?

At the moment the only possibility is to become a member. We are working on the possibility to purchase a webinar package (3 webinars) or a single webinar ticket.

When and how do I receive the login information?

You will receive an email with the login information on the day before the webinar the latest. You will also receive a reminder including the login information one hour before the webinar starts.

How can I participate in a webinar? What are the technical requirements?

The good news is that you can easily attend a session from anywhere, anytime using a compatible computer or mobile device. You need a stable internet connection as well as headphones or speakers. More details on the different options and requirements can be found on the support page of Go2Webinar:

Can I join a test session?

Yes. If you want to make sure that everything works fine on the day of the webinar, we advise you to join a test session:

How do I join the webinar?

You can access the webinar via the link that you receive by email on the day before the webinar or in the reminder that is sent an hour before the webinar. The webinar space is usually open around 5 to 10 minutes before the webinar. You will be in a virtual waiting room until the moderator starts the webinar. 

Are recordings of the webinars available?

All our webinars are recorded. Everyone who has successfully registered for a webinar will receive a link to the recording on the day after the webinar. In addition, we offer a Webinar Library that is only available for tekom/tekom Europe members. There you have access to all recordings of our past webinars.

Will I receive a certificate of participation?

As a members-only service a certificate of participation can be issued upon request. Please send an email to webinars(at)tekom.eu.

Can I provide feedback?

Yes! Right after the webinar a short online survey will pop up. Please take a moment to complete the survey. Your feedback is very important to us as it helps us to improve and develop our webinars.

 

 

FAQ for Speakers

This is a list of frequently asked questions by our speakers.

Who can apply as a speaker for a webinar?

Anyone who is a subject matter expert in a topic within the field of or related to technical communication. It helps if you feel comfortable with public speaking. We do not require you to have prior experience speaking at webinars or conferences. We would like to encourage experienced professionals as well as young professionals as long as you are passionate about your topic.

What is the process for the application?

  1. If you want to apply, please send an email to webinars@tekom.eu including an abstract on your webinar topic and short bio. The abstract should provide an overview of the topic as well as learning goals for the attendees.
  2. We will review your proposal and get back to you usually within 2 weeks.
  3. In case of a positive reply we will schedule a date together and you will receive a link with information material including some hints how to hold a successful webinar and a contract.
  4. We will announce the webinar along with your abstract, bio and your picture on our website. This should be done between 6 to 8 weeks before the webinar.
  5. We will schedule a test webinar usually within one week before the actual webinar to get familiar with the webinar tool and get to know the moderator.

What is the length of a webinar and how is it structured?

Our webinars are usually one hour. This includes a welcome by the moderator who will provide some organizational information as well as a brief introduction of the hosting country organization in tekom Europe. This is followed by the expert presentation for around 35 to 40 minutes. Afterwards there should be enough time for a Question & Answer session (10-15 minutes). The moderator will be present during the whole webinar and concentrate on feedback and questions coming in from the audience and to help if any technical issues should arise. You can focus on your content.

What happens during the test webinar?

As the name reveals we are providing you with the opportunity to familiarize with the tool and test some options (e.g. highlighting contents in your presentation, including a poll). We will provide you with feedback on your sound. We would also like to record a short preview of your webinar (1-2 minutes) that we will later use as a teaser for our webinar library.

What happens on the day of the webinar?

Depending on your level of experience you should login to the webinar tool around 10 to 20 minutes before the webinar starts to do a last check – sound, connection, presentation … and then you are you ready to go!

What happens after the webinar?

Attendees are asked for their feedback on the webinar. Upon request, we gladly provide you with the feedback.

What happens with the recording of the webinar?

Your webinar is recorded and will be included in our webinar library. The library is available for members only and can be accessed only after login. It is also available for everyone who has registered for the webinar.

Is there a compensation?

Yes. For all your efforts we are paying a lump sum of 200.00 Euro for each webinar.

Which tool do you use for the webinars?

We use Go2Webinar by Citrix.
