On site event: Documentation, EU Machinery directive and appreciation

Many, many thanks to everyone who participated with their presence, interaction, and questions at our live event at the Siemens Gamesa location in Vejle, Jutland. The first of its kind since the Corona pandemic! And, special thanks to Siemens Gamesa and the key staff, who organised the meeting with great facilities and hospitality zone. +50 participants took part in a dense programme throughout the session.

Welcome and short introduction to tekom Danmark

Maiken gave a brief introduction to tekom Danmark, our board, member status, events and LinkedIn pages. She also talked about the upcoming NORDIC TechKomm conference in Copenhagen in September. Two full days with many presentations from Nordic as well as international speakers. You can learn more and register here.

Who are we, what do we do, and how do we work with documentation? Esben Keller, Siemens Gamesa

Esben Keller then took us through a very interesting journey into the world of one of the worlds biggest manufacturers of wind turbines, Siemens Gamesa. We learned how the documentation team with Sara Gangelhof at the steering wheel has organised the production of massive amounts of technical documentation. This included details around writing structures, language tools, translation, and terminology handling through to QA procedures. An inspirational presentation to everybody in the audience, which lead to an interesting and open Q&A session.

The new machinery regulation, consequences for documentation professionals, Thomas Thilleman Petersen, Maskinsikkerhed.dk

The main topic of the day – the EU Machine Directive and new regulation - was then presented by Thomas Thilleman Petersen from the consultancy firm Maskinsikkerhed.dk. His presentation clarified the difference between the present directive, which will soon become a regulation. Pitfalls and loopholes were presented. Many relevant questions from the audience were discussed lively, since this topic is a daily challenge to most of the participants.  

Appreciation: Do it yourself! Mathias Maul, maul.fyi

Coming all the way from Hamburg Germany, Mathias Maul finally gave an interesting and catching introduction to the psychological ins and outs in the human brain when it comes to appreciating another human being – or a fellow member of your team. Through different examples we were introduced to new ways of appreciating our colleagues – by “do it yourself” tips and tricks. You can read a summary of the talk here.

Anniversary celebration

And, even if the day had been long and full of information, almost everybody stayed till early evening and the end of the session: The first celebration of the 10 years anniversary of tekom Danmark! Lot of cake, cool and refreshing “bubbles” (alcohol free - safety first), laughter and small talk followed, and we almost had to ask the participants to leave, since Siemens Gamesa had to let the cleaning company do their job. 😉🥳
