tekom Europe Survey 2014

What Is the Current Situation of Technical Communication in Europe?

Kiriaki Kampouridou

Exploring the situation of technical communication in Europe is an important activity and goal of our work as a European association. As tekom Europe, we organize and host various events and conferences focusing on technical communication with an ambitious program, including selected speakers, targeted towards technical writers and documentation departments in general.

To improve our membership services in general, and to develop conference programs tailored to the specific needs of our members and interested persons, we are eager to find out how technical writers see the situation of technical communication in their home country.  Of particular interest are the challenges technical writers are facing today and in the near future in Europe, and which qualifications they feel they are lacking in terms of training or further education.

From the results, we expect to find inspiration, discussion topics, and practices to share, as well as speakers for the presentations and panels. This will help us to create state-of-the-art conference programs better covering the specific situation and needs of each country.
