tcworld Will Launch a Pilot Project after Visiting Chinese Market Leaders

Yuting Tang

After a great success with tcworld China 2015 in Shanghai and the first pilot training workshop in Beijing, tcworld and the German Association for Technical Communication (tekom) now plan to carry out a pilot project. This pilot project is focused on supporting one Chinese company in optimizing its manuals.

In the last week of October, Dr. Michael Fritz, Managing Director at tekom and tcworld, conducted visits in four leading companies in the Chinese market. Sites visited were selected to represent an array of different industry sectors: Mindray (medical), GREE (household appliances), ZTE (telecommunications) and Lenovo (IT).

Dr. Fritz visited company facilities and met with the respective managers of technical documentation departments, as well as technical writers. The companies gave a brief introduction to their content creation and management systems. Dr. Fritz introduced the tcworld pilot project, presented the pre-evaluation results of the companies’ manuals, and made suggestions for improvements as well as some practical recommendations.

The aim of these visits is to get to know the Chinese market and companies on site and to choose the most appropriate one for the pilot project. By the end of this year, tcworld will choose one of these four companies as our Chinese industry partner and help it improve its information and process quality. tcworld will then start with an in-depth evaluation of the manual of the company chosen.
Meanwhile, tcworld will work on sample solutions for the most important issues identified and give the company a proposal on how to improve their documentation process.

For the tcworld team, it was a great pleasure to meet our future partners on their facilities. We will keep you informed about the pilot project in the near future.
