Mini Conference on Transformation of Technical Communication: From Texts to Multimedia

Gyöngyi Németh (event participant)

At tekom Magyarország's last mini-conference, representatives of Semcon Kft talked about how they adapt to this growing need for multimedia in technical communication.

As a technical writer, the concept of shifting from pure text to a more interactive and visual way of communicating with users is something I have encountered several times during my – not very long – career. People don’t like reading, and searching for a certain piece of information in a 73-page-long manual is tedious and frustrating. Therefore, enriching our content with images, infographics, animations, and videos is a good idea indeed.

At this mini-conference, representatives of Semcon Kft talked about how they adapt to this growing need for multimedia in technical communication. As a company that provides service instead of supporting internal development teams, they have a different perspective on writing than most of us do in the audience, so it was interesting to learn about their methods.

After the presentation, they were kind enough to answer all our questions in detail, although there were many. It is always inspiring to see the curiosity and enthusiasm of fellow tech writers. Besides meeting new people at well-organized events, maybe that is why I like tekom gatherings so much.
