Information Architecture for Intelligent Content
tekom Belgium organized an event in Ghent on September 19, 2017 with three sessions focusing on “Information architecture for intelligent content”.
- Date: Tuesday, September 19, 2017
- Time: 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM
- Venue: Ghent University, building Mercator A: Abdisstraat 1, 9000 Ghent, Belgium
Three speakers were sharing their practical experience on how product information can be managed and published in a structured and smart manner.
Bram Lowagie is responsible for the product documentation at Daikin Europe and explains how Daikin has addressed the transition to a Content Management System (CMS – Schema ST4) for installation and user manuals. The new system has been implemented at several Daikin branches at different locations throughout Europe. In the new process, product information is centrally managed and published, which results in a shorter time-to-market for the publications and leads to more consistency.
Yves Barbion from flow then discusses which factors to consider before moving to a CMS. How do you make your content intelligent? Structuring and making your content modular is important, but the assignment of metadata is also a key to making the information findable for the user. Not only text is important, but also illustrations.
Sien Accou from Yamagata Europe wraps up the afternoon with a session on how technical documentation can be used to create instructional videos. Organizations often have a wealth of information that may be worth converting into visual materials and can be used for training but also in a marketing or technical environment.
